The Mental Health Program

The mental health program at Atikokan Community Counselling Services began in 1978. The focus of the program is to provide services to persons 16 years of age and older suffering from serious mental illness. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Schizophrenia
  • Affective Disorders (including Major Depression and Bipolar)
  • Low Mood
  • Anxiety Disorders (including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
  • Personality Disorders
  • Violence and Abusive Behaviour
  • Eating Disorders
  • Counselling to victims of past trauma
  • Suicide/Crisis Intervention
  • Access to Psychiatry

Balancing social, physical, spiritual, economic and mental health aspects of one's life can be challenging. Atikokan Community Counselling staff can assist with:
