We are quite excited to share that the Rainy River District Ontario Health Team (RRDOHT) was invited by the Ministry of Health on July 23, 2020 to submit a full Ontario Health Team application on or before September 18, 2020.

Ontario Health Teams (OHTs) are being developed across the province as part of the Provincial Government’s restructuring of the Health System to help improve patient care and experience across the full continuum of care.

RRDOHT includes direct health service partner organizations in the Rainy River District. The current membership includes leadership from: Gizhewaadiziwin Health Access Centre; Atikokan Family Health Team; Fort Frances Tribal Area Health Services; Fort Frances Family Health Team; Atikokan General Hospital; Canadian Mental Health Association Fort Frances Branch; Rainy River District Social Services Administration Board; Northwest Health Unit; Riverside Health Care Facilities; Rainy Lake Chiefs Secretariat; Ojibways of Onigaming; Anishinaabeg of Naogashiing; and Mishkosiminiziibiing First Nation.

During the development of the full application, we will be engaging and seeking input from our community members and partners through a variety of means. Your input is valuable and needed to help design a healthcare model that work best for our District. We will be reaching out over the next several weeks to seek your input.
