The Atikokan General Hospital welcomed our new CEO Jorge VanSlyke last week. She has officially started her position, and is fitting in great with our team. We are very excited to have her. Check out the publication regarding her hiring below.
The Board of Directors of Atikokan General Hospital (AGH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jorge VanSlyke as the next Chief Executive Officer that will lead AGH effective February 3, 2020. The Board has undertaken a thorough recruitment process that lasted several months to ensure that the best candidate is carefully selected. Qualifications, experience, and most importantly, organizational fit, were used as main criteria in choosing the next CEO.

Jorge VanSlyke is a Certified Health Executive with Masters in Social Work and Public Administration. Her professional background in child, youth, family, and health services spanned multiple countries and Canadian provinces including Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Yukon Territories. She is currently one of the Hospital Administrators of Yukon Hospital Corporation in Dawson City after being the CEO of Grand View Manor Continuing Care Community (GVMCCC) in Nova Scotia. She led the development of Aging-in-Place Community Campus Model as their CEO, envisioning partnership with seniors in meeting their care needs across the health and life spectrum.
She is moving to our community with her husband, three children, and their 7-year old dog, and she is looking forward to meeting everybody and to serving our community.
The Board would also like to thank Jennifer Learning who has been the acting CEO during this transition period. Ms. Learning ensured that AGH operations continue to thrive and provide patient-centered care despite the innumerable changes within and outside the organization.
