Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Long-Term Care (LTC) Coordinator and general supervision of the LTC Manager, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) is responsible for providing care to residents in LTC that meet their supportive, physical, and psycho-social needs; including assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), personal care, safety and comfort.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Certified as a Personal Support Worker or currently enrolled in a registered nursing or registered practical nursing program.
- A genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the elderly.
- Ability to motivate groups and individuals in recreational activities.
- Knowledge and experience of good bedside nursing care and providing general care and support.
- Ability to build and maintain compassionate, caring interpersonal relationships.
- Ability and competency in working under pressure
- Effective time management skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and maintain organization
- Proficient and tactful in written communication and oral communication while maintaining confidentiality.
- Competent and capable both when working alone and as a member of a team.
- Interpersonal skills, and ability to build and maintain same.
